Fight Forecast - Canelo vs Smith by Ted Cofie

Thursday, September 1

Liam Smith has been pretty much utilized as a scape goat for Canelo dodging Gennady Golovkin. At least those are the words being said by the Englishman!

To some degree there may be some merit to these stern words. Smith is adamant he will hand Canelo a solid defeat and if he pulls the cat out of the bag there are untold riches awaiting him while he fulfills and honours his rematch clause with the red haired Mexican.

Saul Canelo Alvarez has reached heights a career complete athlete would be proud of; let alone a stark 26-year-old with untold years to go. The spotlight is brightly shining on a Canelo vs GGG looming affair; and so it should it. With the exception of Floyd Money Mayweather, Canelo has not put a foot wrong. He is more accomplished than Smith in all departments…. Speed, power and ring generalship. His star power and bargaining power are also off the scale.

Canelo wins this fight with great ease and I see him putting on a boxing exhibition. The only downside is that once Canelo has the light middleweight belt he will argue he is not a full middleweight and delay GGG negotiations.

Tune in to this Main Event live broadcast and enjoy. Canelo really is a future hall of famer!
